During our 2019-20 season we are celebrating 45 years as a Club at On Top of the World. A
remarkable accomplishment! The new logo seen above will commemorate this special milestone. A brief club history follows.
Wally and Lilian Parr, from Thornhill, Ontario moved to OTOW in 1973. They heard conflicting
comments from other Canadians seeking answers to many of the issues facing snowbirds. In forming a club, they thought all members would get the same correct information. They listed
the names of people they knew. Then every day they walked and scouted Canadian license plates. They knocked on corresponding apartment doors and asked if the residents were interested
in forming a club. When sufficient numbers were achieved, they advertised a meeting in the OTOW newspaper. The Parrs started their walks in March '75. On April 12 Wally chaired
the first meeting in the Card Room where 39 people attended and 18 more names were handed in. By-laws were devised, presented, and accepted at a Nov meeting. Their Mission
Statement, “The purpose of the OTOW Canadian Club is to foster fellowship and mutual assistance among members,” is still followed.
We welcome all residents of OTOW. Close to half of our members are American. A new
“Friendship” flag was purchased this season. As part of our 45th Anniversary celebration the former “Canada Day in the USA” event in Feb has been renamed the “Friendship
Dinner/Dance.” Our full schedule of activities resumes in the Fall, including a golf fun day.

les licences d'autos canadiennes. Ils ont frappé aux portes des appartements correspondants et ont demandé si les résidents souhaitaient former un club. Lorsqu'ils ont atteint un nombre suffisant
de participants, ils ont annoncé une réunion dans le journal OTOW. Les Parrs ont commencé leurs promenades en mars 1975. Le 12 avril, Wally a présidé la première réunion dans la salle des cartes,
où 39 personnes onoriser la camaraderie et l’assistance mutuelle entre les membres” est toujours suivi.
Nous accueillons tous les résidents d'OTOW. Près de la moitié de nos membres sont américains. Un
nouveau drapeau “d'Amitié” a été acheté cette saison. Dans le cadre de nos célébrations du 45e anniversaire, l’ancien événement “Fête du Canada aux États-Unis” en février a été renommé
“Dîner/Danse d’amitié.”
