Club Picnic - 12 March, 2020

We are happy to announce that the Club’s first picnic was held on Thursday, March 12 at Shelter #7 at Phillipe Park, Safety Harbor, FL.  Joanne Fenn stepped up to volunteer as Event Coordinator back in December 2019 and quickly got her planning and organizational skills into action.   Because the Pavilion approval and opening was delayed over the winter, Joanne knew she needed to look elsewhere for a site and followed the lead of the Irish Club at Phillipe Park!   Her target originally was for 35 participants and in the end, 41 tickets were sold at $10.00 each.   Joanne brainstormed with President, Ian Hunter and Registrar, Shirley Hunter to develop the menu which was a huge success.   Joanne also partnered with volunteers Robert and Debra Kerrison, Theresa Gates and Lydia Côté for many of the activities and events during the picnic.   We enjoyed a multiple choice ‘Canadian’ brainstorming quiz for “bragging rights” and asked that our American members partner with Canadians to come up with the answers.  The winners were everyone and it was a fun way for all of us to learn a little more about Canada!   We plan to continue on next season with another picnic in late January at the new Pavilion at On Top of the World.
